Converse is an American shoe company which has been active since the early twentieth century. The manufacturer of rubber shoes Marquis Mills Converse opened his first factory in Malden, Massachusetts in 1908. The simple and comfortable designs made by Converse soon won many followers, but it was a decade later when they began their real boom, then, when included the canvas in the manufacture of their products, these were much more resistant and perfect for basketball, sport that adopted Converse as the official footwear.

And it was a basketballer which became the stamp and image of Converse for the next 50 years: Chuck Taylor, star of the time who always showed a preference for these sneakers and not only became the ambassador who led the Image of Converse by all United States until his death in 1969, but even from the 1923 adopted as his own to see a patch with his name and symbol on the ankle area of the shoes. Since that time, the line would be known as Chuck Taylor Converse All Star, but people just called them ''chucks''.

With the professionalization of the NBA, the demands of increased equipment and Converse had to leave his classic white and black to suit the times and make new designs and attractive colors that required professional franchises. They even had to increase material and introduced the vinyl and leather for their survival as a brand and remain the favorite in North America. Besides basketball and until our days, Converse shoes have become an essential footwear in the urban youth style. Associated to the current musical indie wave, for many musicians have become their favorite footwear.
