When I started blogging, I received some negative comments about reusing the same things. And these comments continued through the years. It felt like a crime to use something "old". I understand where these comments come from ... being a style blogger, it's part of my job to share the latest trends or the most wanted pieces, etc. But being a real person, I really do not do that in my own personal life. Sometimes, the current essential accessories or new items are great, but in fact I love using my favorite pieces over and over again. And I think the pressure to keep up with trends and novelty can be very tiring. One thing that I really appreciate about the digital age and blogs / forums is that it has helped to democratize fashion. Nowadays, fashion is not so much about buying the latest and best, but more about individual style. Mix the new and the old, the high and the low, the luxury and the street, any combination with which you feel comfortable and in whom you trust. I'll probably get some negative messages, but it's worth it. This lace dress is ... well, old (as seen in this blog post) and I love it more every time I wear it. I'm redesigning it (my favorite part of fashion!), With lines and color accents by adding a black choker and a thin belt over it, and finishing the design with a shiny satin silk trench. And I love that this silk trench can be transformed into a dress (going back to talking about the restyling!). Wear it close and tight (with a travel dress underneath for safety) and it's a long trench-style dress!
